Carving Up the Day!
ARE THESE FOR REAL?
You bet’cha. It’s competitive gardening at its grandest. Nurtured from seed using decades of experience and soil science garnered over time, these giant pumpkins will be featured at the second annual Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival…a spectacular Fall festival where these monstrous fruits are the headline entertainment.
Three venues are involved along Pittsburgh’s North Shore Riverwalk. If you’re looking for landmarks, it’s primarily the Riverwalk area between Jerome Bettis’ Grille and Heinz Field. The areas are:
•Great Lawn at North Shore Riverfront Park
•The Riverwalk itself, and the…
•Allegheny River in front of the Great Lawn
Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to dusk…and Sunday, Oct. 20 from noon to 6 p.m.
THE ALLEGHENY RIVER?
You read it right. The Allegheny River will become a pumpkin playground of sorts for an event called the “Great Pumpkin Paddle” featuring rowers in hollowed out giant pumpkins who will race against each other in a series of heats. Yep, we said race.
IS THERE A FEE TO ATTEND?
Simply put…it’s all FREE. We will have food, drinks and craft vendors that will be charging separately for their individual products, but there’s no admission fee and no charge to come down and stroll the grounds to see things such as…pumpkin drops, master pumpkin carvers, the races and all the other activities planned.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
There are several ways to participate in the festival:
1. Become a craft or tent vendor, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
